Creative Critical Reflection

 I am so excited to finally have my finished product! Although it has been difficult at times, it was overall very enjoyable since I was able to artistically express myself in a new form of media that I have never tried before.

Another critique I received was that my content page was not orderly enough, and it had a similar issue to my cover page; there was too much going on. I previously had many images on my content page that all didn't really seem to go with my topic very well; they didn't mesh together. I decided to select only one of these images and make it the background for my text on this page. My image has more toned down colors like grey and tan to draw readers attention to the content page text telling the reader where to find certain articles. This has significantly helped my magazine's maturity level improve as well as the cleanliness and overall organization of my work. 

 One of the parts of my magazine that was highly critiqued was my cover page. My cover page used to include many different images and it was in a blocky style, people said it was too much and he focus was unclear; they were right. To revise this, I decided to select only one of the previous images that I had on my cover. Since my feature article is about the midnight sun, a phenomenon that has to do with the time the sun sets in Iceland, I decided the best thing to put on the front would be a beautiful sunset to draw in readers who are interested in that topic; this shows my readers what they are getting themselves into before they begin to read my magazine. For my cover, I selected a beautiful sunset photo that had hints of purple, pink, yellow, orange and blue.  When I presented my magazine I got a lot of constructive criticism and some compliments. Some of the positives were that I had a great title and people enjoyed the lighter pastel colors I chose to use for my text. Some of the most important criticism I received was that  since my magazine is geared towards an older more educated group of individuals, I should make my magazine look more sleek and like it is meant for an older person. I also need to fix my cover page since there was a lot going on and make it more simple. My feature article was deemed as too short by my peers so I need to increase the length of my actual text. Although I received a lot of criticism this was a helpful and insightful experience. It's very difficult to critique your own work so when others do it for you even though it can be harsh, it is helpful in creating a better overall product.
