 When I presented my magazine I got a lot of constructive criticism and some compliments. Some of the positives were that I had a great title and people enjoyed the lighter pastel colors I chose to use for my text. Some of the most important criticism I received was that  since my magazine is geared towards an older more educated group of individuals, I should make my magazine look more sleek and like it is meant for an older person. I also need to fix my cover page since there was a lot going on and make it more simple. My feature article was deemed as too short by my peers so I need to increase the length of my actual text. Although I received a lot of criticism this was a helpful and insightful experience. It's very difficult to critique your own work so when others do it for you even though it can be harsh, it is helpful in creating a better overall product. 

 Everywhere in the world the sun rises in the day and sets at night, right? Wrong! You apparently haven’t been to Iceland and experienced the amazing Midnight Sun. The Midnight sun is a special night of the year in Iceland where the sun doesn’t set for the whole day! Locals and tourists alike all come together to celebrate this strange phenomenon by playing sports, partying, and going to the beach. Professional Hilton Blogger, MaryEllen Mancini, states “It’s truly astounding that it seemed like morning when it was actually midnight!” A local that Mancini spoke with stated that “No matter if you’re a local, tourist, or snowbird, the Midnight Sun is something that everyone should experience.” So not only is this something amazing for people to see who have never viewed it before, people love the sight so much that they celebrate it again and again! Something truly fascinating about the Midnight Sun is how people react to it, even though the sun is something we see every day.  My house style is a very fun loving, colorful, and slightly youthful looking dynamic. I decided to make my style appear this way so that it is interesting to many different groups of people, teens, children, and people who aspire to feel youthful once again. My house style is also seen as colorful with text that really pops out at you to try and grab my readers attention. Going with a more colorful style is also helpful for marketing since many magazines out on the lot today tend to stick to more drab and less colorful options, so having color will really make people take a second glance.

 Today I decided to take some photos for my magazine. Since my feature article in my magazine is about Iceland's well known midnight sun, I have taken some pictures of nature including the sun to stage the effect of being in Iceland. I have also taken some pictures of a couple of my friends, some of them in the sun outside and others playing sports since one of the many things that happens during the midnight sun is celebration through sports. I also decided to head down to the beach and take some pictures there since some people decide to party on the beach during the midnight sun. One last sight I decided to take a picture of was a golfing range with golf balls out in the field since sport playing is seen as a form of celebration.  Another area I decided to explore with my photography was home décor.  My first interview was with a travel blogger for Hilton by the name of Maryellen Mancini who has visited Iceland herself and has experienced the Midnight Sun. Mancini is from Florida, somewhere that the seasons are pretty consistent, so she though it was " truly astounding that it seemed like morning when it was actually midnight!" Mancini also described several festivities that she had heard about from locals who she talked to " The people from Iceland participate in many festivities such as beach parties, golf, tennis, dance, and simply just spending time with loved ones during the midnight sun." She also described the experience as "Almost magical, kind of like a dream. Everyone was so happy about something as simple as the time of day when the sun was out; it's nice to see people find  joy in the little things."
